Ways to Exercise in Hot Weather

Summer does not have to prevent you from continuing to lose weight. You’ll get to that bikini body yet! You can still exercise in the summer provided you do so carefully. Stay out of the heat if you can, make sure you are fully hydrated with water, and wear sunscreen if you’re going to exercise outside. There are ways you can exercise indoors, however, that will keep you cool and fit. Revive Medical Center lists some suggestions below.

Get a Gym Membership

If you’ve been considering getting a gym membership, now is a perfect time. Gyms are a great way to get a complete workout indoors in air-conditioned air so that you don’t get sick. You will have numerous options for aerobic workouts as well as weight training. Plus, you can also hire one of the gym’s personal trainers to help you with your exercise plan.

Workout at Home

If you don’t feel like spending money on a gym membership or would prefer to work out alone, you can always purchase exercise equipment for a home gym or do a workout via a DVD, Blu-ray, or on-demand. There are many aerobic exercises out there that are low impact yet intense that will give you the perfect workout for weight loss and get you fit inside your home.

Walk the Indoor Malls

A popular form of exercise that many people are doing when it’s hot outside is walking the indoor malls. A brisk walk throughout the entire mall will have you walking for miles depending on the mall’s size. Gather a group of friends who want to get fit, as well, and head to the mall in the morning before it opens. Many malls open up their doors to allow people to exercise by walking through them.

Swim/Do Water Aerobics

One of the best ways to exercise when it’s hot outside is to dive into a pool and go. Make sure you have plenty of waterproof sunscreens on and swim laps in the pool. This works out every muscle in your body. You can also do water aerobics, which is a more intense form of aerobic exercise because of the resistance the water provides.

Exercise Early or Late

Finally, if you absolutely have to go for a run outside, make sure you do it early in the morning or late at night when the weather is cooler. Do not run in the middle of the day when it is hot and humid outside. This is dangerous.
